Dr. Alexis Chiang Colvin MD
Dr. Colvin is an Associate Professor of Sports Medicine at the Mount Sinai Hospital in the Leni and Peter W. May Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Dr. Colvin serves at the Chief Medical Officer of the United States Tennis Association. She is provides care for elite tennis players during the U.S. Open and also is the medical advisor to the U.S. Fed Cup team. She has also served as a physician at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO.
Advanced Training
Dr. Colvin graduated from Princeton University, where was elected to Sigma Xi, the scientific research society and selected for an early admission program to the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. After receiving her medical degree, Dr. Colvin completed her orthopaedic surgery residency at the New York University Hospital for Joint Diseases.
After residency, Dr. Colvin pursued additional training in sports medicine at the prestigious University of Pittsburgh Medical Center with Dr. Freddie Fu, a pioneer in the field of anatomic ACL reconstruction. While in Pittsburgh, Dr. Colvin cared for professional athletes, including the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Penguins, and collegiate athletes at the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University, among others. Dr. Colvin also completed additional training in the field of hip arthroscopy with Dr. Thomas Byrd, Nashville, TN and Dr. Marc Philippon, Vail, CO.
Clinical Research
Dr. Colvin has authored numerous scientific publications and has presented both at national and international meetings on sports medicine and orthopaedic surgery. As an associate professor, she is involved in the teaching of both medical students and residents and actively pursues research in the field of sports medicine.
Awards
She was selected as a 2009 Arthroscopy Association of North American Traveling Fellow, during which time she learned cutting edge techniques from experts in the field of arthroscopy.
The Arthritis Foundation honored her as a 2012 Women on the Move, which honors “extraordinary women who are balancing family life, careers, and community involvement”.
She was also the 2012 recipient of the Solomon Silver Award in Clinical Medicine, presented by the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. This award honors a physician who best exemplifies the ability to apply the advances in scientific and laboratory medicine to the practice of medicine at the patient level.

Dr. Colvin is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and Arthroscopy Association of North America.
